I grew up in a small town where taking care of yourself wasn’t called self-care. It was just how we lived.
I was lucky to grow up with my father and grandfather. They gave me something I didn’t realise was so special until I grew up, a place where I always felt safe.
One thing they always told me stayed with me forever:
The memories I hold onto are the small ones. Eating together. Oiling each other’s hair. Long talks that drifted from life to which herb was good for what. I used to think those evenings were about hair. They weren’t. They were about paying attention to each other, being patient, and simply being there.
For years, I trusted what we made at home far more than anything I could buy off a shelf. Even when I moved to the UK, my parents would send them to me because that’s what felt like home.
Then life changed.
My grandfather passed away. I came back to India carrying that loss, with no real idea of what I was meant to do next.
But one thing never changed.
I always came back to hair oiling.
It reminded me of home. It reminded me of him. It reminded me to slow down and take care of myself.
That’s when I knew I didn’t want to create just another hair oil.
I wanted to create something I truly believed in.
I made myself one promise:
That promise still guides everything we make.

It’s about slowing down, checking on yourself, and finding comfort in the little things.
I was lucky enough to grow up feeling loved and cared for.
My hope is that, in its own small way, Check by ASG gives you a little bit of that feeling too.
